A Design-Build Process built around you
Starting a home remodeling or construction project can feel overwhelming. There are designs to consider, materials to choose, budgets to understand, and countless decisions that need to come together before the work even begins.
At B. Home Co, we believe you shouldn't have to figure it all out on your own.
As a design-build firm and general contractor based in Gordonsville, Tennessee, we bring interior design, planning, and construction together in one connected process. We work with homeowners throughout Gordonsville, Lebanon, Wilson County, and Middle Tennessee, guiding each project from the first conversation through construction and the final details.
Our process starts with listening, then moves into design and planning before construction begins. This allows us to identify possibilities, make important decisions early, and create a clearer understanding of your project before work starts.
Here’s how our seamless, design-build process works:
-
Let's start with a conversation.
We'll talk about your home, what you'd like to change, your goals, timeline, budget, and the type of project you're considering.
This first conversation helps us understand whether B. Home Co is a good fit and what the next step should look like.
Helpful tip: If you have photos, measurements, inspiration images, plans, or other information about your project, send them to us beforehand. The more we understand about your project from the beginning, the more prepared we can be for our conversation.
-
Now let's see your home.
Once we understand what you're looking for, we'll meet with you at your home to take a closer look at the space and talk through what's possible.
Depending on your project, you'll meet with our interior designer, general contractor, or both. We'll discuss design ideas, construction considerations, existing conditions, and potential solutions specific to your home.
This is where your ideas begin to become something we can actually plan.
-
Before we design, we establish a direction.
After our consultation, we'll outline the recommended next steps based on your goals and project needs. This may include a realistic budget range and a Project Design Agreement that allows us to move into the design phase.
Taking this step before construction gives us the opportunity to work through important decisions early—rather than discovering them after the project is already underway.
-
This is where your vision starts to take shape.
Now we get into the details.
Working with our designer, we'll develop the plans, selections, layouts, and other elements needed to bring your vision together. Depending on the project, this may include building plans, 3D renderings, material selections, finishes, and a detailed scope of work.
Because our design and project management teams work together, we're not designing in isolation. We continually consider how the design, materials, budget, and construction will work together.
The goal is to make thoughtful decisions before construction begins.
-
Now the pieces come together.
Once the design is developed, our project management team can build out the construction budget and timeline around the actual scope of your project.
We'll coordinate with our trade partners, review the details, and work through the information needed to prepare your project for construction.
At this point, you have a much clearer picture of what you're building, what it will involve, and what comes next.
-
It's time to bring the vision home.
Once construction begins, your dedicated project manager oversees the work and keeps you informed throughout the process.
Your designer remains involved as needed to help ensure the finished work stays connected to the original vision, while our construction team manages the work happening on site.
From the first day of construction to the final details, we're here to coordinate the moving pieces, answer questions, and keep the project moving forward.
Together, we turn the plans into a home that works for you.
Every home and every project is different, but our process gives you a clear path forward.
Rather than jumping straight into construction, we take the time to understand what you want to accomplish, how you want your home to function, and how your vision fits within your budget.
Why we lead with design?
One of the biggest advantages of a design-build approach is that design and construction don't have to happen in separate worlds.
When design decisions are made early, we can consider how they affect materials, construction, functionality, and budget before work begins. Your designer and construction team are part of the same process, giving everyone a better understanding of the project from the start.
For homeowners, that means having a team to help connect the dots—from the big-picture vision down to the details.
It's not about making more decisions.
It's about making the right decisions at the right time.
A process that keeps you involved
We don't believe you should feel like a bystander in your own home project.
Throughout the process, we keep communication open so you know where your project stands, what decisions need to be made, and what comes next. We use JobTread to keep project information in one place, giving you an easy way to stay connected with our team. From project updates and messages to schedules, selections, documents, and budget information, you can access the details you need without having to dig through emails or text messages.
Having everything organized in one place also helps our team stay accountable and keeps everyone working from the same information. Instead of wondering about the status of your project or trying to track down a conversation, you have a clearer picture of what's happening and what's coming next.
Our job is to handle the details and guide the project. Your job is to tell us what matters most to you.
That's how we create a finished home that isn't just well built, but feels like it belongs to you.
